KazIOR

The Kazakh Oncology Institute of the Ministry of Health of the Kazakh SSR was established on July 5, 1960. The first director was Associate Professor Saken Nugmanovich Nugmanov, from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Kazakh State Medical Institute. The clinical base of the institute was designated as the building of the Almaty Trade and Cooperative Technical School.
The institute became the leading research, medical, and organizational-methodological center in the republic in the fields of oncology, radiology.
The mission of the institute is to reduce cancer mortality within the framework of the state policy aimed at prevention, early diagnosis, effective treatment, and rehabilitation of cancer patients; to ensure the implementation of scientific research in the field of oncology; and to provide training and retraining of specialists for the oncology service of the republic.
