The Pediatric Oncology Center provides all types of comprehensive treatment for children with malignant neoplasms from all over the Republic of Kazakhstan in a 24/7 inpatient setting, as well as outpatient consultations for pediatric patients regarding malignant tumors or suspected malignancies.
Currently, JSC “Kazakh Oncology Institute” operates three high-energy linear accelerators from Varian Medical Systems: TrueBeam 2059, TrueBeam 6487, and Ethos.
The Pediatric Oncology Center provides pharmacological therapy for pediatric cancers, including chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy. In addition, surgical methods are used to treat skin and soft tissue tumors, head and neck tumors, as well as gynecological tumors.
A multidisciplinary approach is applied to each patient. Regular tumor boards are held online with an international radiation oncologist, Professor Maya Djugashvili, MD, PhD, from the University of Murcia “Genesis Care,” Spain. Tumor boards are also conducted jointly with pediatric oncologists from UMC, Astana, and Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery, Almaty.
The center’s staff actively participate in scientific and educational events, conferences, and research projects, and undergo regular training, including abroad.
Inpatients at the Pediatric Oncology Center have access to psycho-social support, provided by qualified psychologists from the Psycho-Social Support Center of JSC “KazIOR”.
